When our talented friends at
Quarterton Productions invited our founder,
Eddie Ulrich, to participate in the
48 Hour Film Project as a co-writer and graphic designer on their team, he had no idea what a fun and exciting experience awaited him.
More than 90 Minneapolis Teams accepted the challenge of conceiving, writing, casting, filming, editing and producing a short 4-7 minute film - all in 48 hours. Only 70some teams met the deadline and out of those, only 15 were selected for the final screening and awards presentation.
For first-year participants, Team Quarterton did extremely well - claiming
"Audience Favorite" in their initial screening group as well as making the cut to be included in final 15.
At the screening and awards presentation, the team's success continued winning
"Best Art Direction" and
"Best Cinematography." The team's film,
"Fresh and Healthy", was also nominated for
"Best Picture",
"Best Director",
"Best Screenplay",
"Best Graphic Design" and
"Best Costumes". Not a bad showing - enough to possibly inspire a return for next year's competition? I guess we'll have to wait and see.
